GROUP STATEMENT

P.S. 610 With Highest Honors is designed to serve as a confessional for what black artists envision their lives to be. It compels them to take a critical look at themselves as individuals within a community that has faced numerous challenges and maintained various facades just to get through the day. How different could life be? How much happier might it be if they were allowed to be themselves without the burden of pretense or consequence? Through this group of artists, the intention is to symbolically demonstrate what it would look like to shed the façade and transform into their true selves.

These works reveal the artist's journey to express emotions and sentiments that are often difficult to put into words.

Using oil paint and brushstrokes, each painting communicates feelings of love and positivity through color and texture, highlighting the unique qualities of each figure. The artist reflects on the influence of friends and family, placing each figure in an idealized setting that showcases the interplay between personal reflection and external impact.

This exhibition celebrates art as a powerful tool for self-discovery and expression, encouraging viewers to reflect on their relationships and the intricate nature of human connections. Through these paintings, the artist invites us to explore a world where emotion and perception meet, emphasizing the beauty of individuality and interconnectedness.
