You don't have to be a professional artist to participate in Yard Art Day! Everyone is invited to participate. Charlotte has been hosting Yard Art Day, organized by Deborah Triplet, for years. It's time for York County to show off its creative side!
Artists around Charlotte and beyond are preparing for Yard Art Day on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th, 2020. For one day, front yards around the city and beyond will boast art installations of all kinds. The art can be anything creative – any medium: painting, photography, dancing, play a fiddle, hoola hooping... It can be as simple as a yard full of balloons or as complicated as a well-crafted piece of sculpture, OR it can be performance art (dance, music, reading poetry) – any sort of artistic expressions is welcome and at any level of expertise. The only requirement is that your art be seen from the street or sidewalk. If you don’t have a yard – put it on a balcony, in a window, on your car, or even in a friend’s yard (with permission).
Businesses, communities, school gardens, schools, churches – anyone can participate.
